The university
On 1st January 2010, Linnaeus University opened its doors for the first time as Sweden’s newest university, the result of a merger between Kalmar University and Växjö University. Today the university has 42,000 students and 2,000 employees.

Teacher education is the largest of the university’s study programmes and in includes students who are going to become pre-school, primary school and secondary school teachers, as well as further education studies for those who are already practicing as teachers.

Linnaeus University (former Växjö University and Växjö University College) has been a member of Symposion since it started in 1992.
