Pädagogische Hochschule Thurgau (PHTG) was founded in 2003, incorporating or replacing all previous forms of teacher training institutions in the canton of Thurgau. It offers initial and continuing teacher education for teachers at all levels of the school system, has a centre for research and development striving to interconnect research and teaching and a well-equipped centre for media and e-learning.
Currently, approximately 700 students are enrolled in the Early Childhood, Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Education BA and MA programmes on offer and 150 teachers participate in CAS- or MAS-programmes.
Thurgau University of Teacher Education also closely collaborates with the German University of Konstanz with whom it shares two transnational “Bridge Professorships” in the field of Educational Research and Early Childhood Education. It also maintains several other national and international co-operations with universities working in the field of (teacher) education and actively fosters the mobility of its students, lecturers and researchers.
Thurgau University of Teacher Education is located on a modern and beautiful campus in walking distance from Lake Constance and the German border.
